How can I fix my hotpoint WM52 door catch?

I've got a hotpoint First Edition 1000 WM52 washing machine, and the door will not close (I've not used it before, as it's in a new house).
Could this be a problem with the catch, or would it most likely be the interlock?
The front part of the catch (a white plate) appears to be cracked, but not on the actual part that would secure the door.
How easy are either of those (interlock or catch) to change?

Many thanks :)

done
buy a new catch, which should cost about a tenner. unplug the machine and take the top off. unscrew the two screws on the catch from the front, lean the drum backward so that you can get at the catch, take note of where the three wires go on the catch and simply swap the catches over. screw the catch back into place and put the top back on and it should work again, hopefully

Did you fix your washing machine door? I've got exactly the same problem.

Be careful if you undo the two cross-head screws that hold the striking plate as there is nothing to retain the door lock and it can fall down into the depths of the machine !!
