Makita DCS 340 problem?

Hi
Any ideas why the sprocket guard on this machine should start melting and burning when the engine is running? I've taken it off together with the chain and guide. The clutch looks fine and is turning ok.

i also had this problem in a saw (340)that i bought 2nd hand this was due to the chain brake band not fitted correctly.
