Delay between me hitting the switch and the light commming on. Why?

When I hit the light switch in the front room, the light doesn't come on immediately but a second or two after. The other lights in the flat work OK. Does anybody know any possible reason why is this happening? And is there a danger of electrical fire happening?

Also a lv lighting transformer can do this but again perfectly normal

Are you using an energy savng bulb? If so, throw it away and use a proper bulb!

One of two things: A relay, a florescent light. If either perfectly normal.
