How far apart should downlights be placed?

I want to install 50w fixed downights in my bathroom (all are suitable for zone 1,2 or 3). How far apart should each light be placed? My bathroom is 7ft wide by 9ft long and the lights need to be fitted down both 9ft lengths.

Thank you.

Usually a metre apart is considered the norm - however the important thing is that they are placed centrally between the ceiling joists due to heat production. Ideally they should be fitted with a fire hood too, and any insulation kept away.
