kenwood chef 901 smoke problem?

My 901 suddenly discharged much white smoke.
After a time I started it again it was then ok, no smoke.
Could the 0.15uf cap be a problem or perhaps an
amount of gunge fell into the works?

My 901 suddenly discharged much white smoke after a small popping noise (bang)? I have stopped using it at present. How do I get the problem fixed?

Where were the screws that you undid to access the broken capacitor?

Ive just had the same problem , lots of white smoke and a horrible burning smell.
Took the chef to bits , which wasnt too difficult , maybe 4 screws and a couple of springs and found one of the capacitors had cracked and fallen to bits , and smelled of burning.
Quick visit to ebay , typed in
kenwood chef repair kits and there they were. £6.00 all inc.
All i have to do now is solder them in and save myself a couple of hundred pounds
Simple.

Could be, The capacitors in these mixers do fail as the machines get older. Low priced repair kits containing the capacitors and other components can be found on Ebay. Changing the capacitors will usually fix the smoking problem (The smoke is usually from a failed capacitor)

Normally it is due to the capacitors burning out. This could also take both the resistors as well.
One cause is the attachments getting stiff, thus causing too much load on the motor. All attachments should be able to be turned by hand.
Hope this helps
