when any DVD is placed in, it just reads "loading" and nothing happens?

I have Tevion DVD player.when any DVD is placed in, it just reads "loading" and nothing happens. Is the DVD player dead or is there hope?

try playing a music cd for about 2-3 mins and then try a dvd it worked for me
