Without stating the obvious, did you check teh cable? have you actually got power going to it?
Thats all it can be if you just ran over the wire. I have run and my children have run over teh wire a few times. its shorter but as long as you fix it correctly thats all it should be. After all its a wire 2 switches and a motor and a fuse, what else can it be
