i received my grandparents old 8 day Cuckoo Clock. Both chains are all the way down on one side and they won't pull back up by pulling on the other side. I believe they are on the geer because I can see the geer moving slightly when I pull on it. It is like they are locked. Any help?

try turning the clock upside down giveing the chains enough slack so the will fall and realign them selves
