Gary I have a sony dsc w5 and have the same problem.Took it in to repair shop at adelaide .When I first spoke to them on the phone they said it was most probably a fuse on motherboard and it wouldn't cost much to fix. So i took it in, quote came back at $249.00 said it needed new circuit board ( circuit board $214.00 Special price excess stock) But camera was in good condition (they stated) My camera has only been used about 6 times in all and was always kept in its case.I'm still looking for an answer myself and I've always bought sony gear but I can't seem to get anywhere with this.
