Recently bought second hand Rover 416sli 1997 model. Could not find an engine service manual for this Rover model on internet. Previous owner tells me he thinks it may be a Honda Civic engine (because Rover discontinued making their own engines at that time & tied up with Honda). Is this true ?

nope it is not true mines is 1999 and has k16 for your model if you have the timming belt on the right hand side its (everything is on this side with this engine apart for flywheel stater etc) a k16 engine , problem is if it is this engine get a new uprated gasket soon or put a bit of engine seal in it to make sure it dosent blow the gasket (temp solution)and sell it soon ....not joking its not too hard to do it your self but cost an arm and a few legs if done at garage just be warned it should also have a mark on the engine ie k16f.....etc this would be at the exhaust manifold left side i think around there anyway hope this helps
