washer dryer that won't empty or spin!?

I have a hoover 1500 special edition washer dryer, and it won't spin or drain the water away. At the end of the cycle, the clothes in the drum are sat in dirty water that won't empty

If you are able, check the carbon brushes on the motor. I have just had a similar problem on a Hotpoint washing machine. The carbon brushes come as a pair and it is advisable to change both, making sure the mains electric supply is disconnected first.
