qualcast trojan 16 won't start?

I have a Qualcast Trojan 16 mower with Tecumseh Vantage 35 engine.

I wont go !!! despite pulling the cord till my face turns blue, cooking the spark plug, and cursing, it still refuses to run. Does anyone know what the most likely causes are and where I can get spares?

ensure there is not to much oil in it. This will just oil the plug up and it will not start.

Drain the fuel. Undo the brass bolt under the small reservoir that feeds the carb. Some petrol will leak out - catch this is in a suitable container or rag. Remove the canister & bolt (remember which way round in goes. Chances are the small holes in it will be blocked - clear these by blowing through it. Check the float works. Re-assemble. Add a small amount of fuel & check for leaks. See if it starts.

I had/have this problem. My one turned out to be a case of the cable being streched which in turn meant not enough "choke" when cold. My get around is to push the accelerator forward where the cable links and this gets it working.

However the reason I,ve seen your problem is that I need to replace the cable, because its a bit of a chore !!!!
