Chase out the old mortar to a depth of at least 1cm. Soak the gaps with a PVA solution applied with a paintbrush. Use a 4 sand 1 cement mix with diluted PVA+water. Apply with small trowel and finish off with a S shaped piece of 15mm copper pipe (The bend being used to provide the pointed finish)
