I have fitted new locks and ignition barrel to my 1997 Escort 1.8 diesel van and would like to know how to get the immobiliser to recognise the new keys. I have lost the old one with the chip in it that came with the van.

Hi Robin, the only way is to get the van connected to a diagnostic computer and have the new keys reprogrammed to the immobiliser, most good autoelectricians should have the kit to do this expect to pay around £50 have a look in yellow pages for autoelectricians and some locksmiths offer the same service
