the ajustment screw on the back hardly moves the needle, needle down at 31.5 millibars I have made ajustments & I can now get full ajustment. but what position do I replace the needle? to reset the barometer

there is an adjustment screw on the back.find out what millibars of pressure is at in your area..look at local weather report on line and adjust to suit..thats it

Now i understand why my new barometer was off when air shipped. the low pressure send it off scale.

Sometimes the mechanism trips off due to excessive low pressure (usually due to being shipped in an airplane). Place your barometer in a large ziploc bag, partially inflate the bag, close the seal, then squeeze firmly on the bag. Often this increase in pressure around the barometer will reset it.
