How can I fix my Sears model 917.275683 lawn tractor?

I am trying to replace the "motor drive belt" in accordance with the owner's manual. However, I cannot "remove the belt downward from engine pulley and around electric clutch". The clutch housing has a triangular shape, and the belt would have to stretch at least two inches in my estimation to roll over the clutch housing. Is there something I am missing? Help! Thanks,

Drop the mower deck by pulling the clips on all attachment points, move it to give you the slack you need.... Remove and replace belt, then put the mower deck back on.

I will now answer my own question. The procedure did not work as written due to the size of the clutch assy. Work the belt "up" onto the motor shaft which gives enough slack to get it off the back pulley and over the cooling fan. It can then be moved forward and down off the engine pulley and clutch pulley.
