fixing carl lewis mot 25 running machine?

carl lewis MOT 25 running machine. The belt runs on its own without being switched on, it runs at full speed and the display is dead. THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS IS THE EMERGENCY SWITCH. Any ideas as to the remedy?
