how can I fix my canon powershot A75?

The fault has been intermittent. A black screen with purple slashes has now changed to a faded picture that looks as though it is being viewed through venetian blinds. The fault seems now to be permanently there. The picture is as it is viewed on the screen. I was told by my dealer that the Powershot A75 has developed a fault can anyone tell me what I can do about this?

Thanks for the info, David! I had the same problem and was going to toss the camera. I called the 800 number listed on the website you gave and they are sending a UPS shipping tag for me to send it to them free of charge to repair. Awesome!

Don't throw away your camera, read this blog about the known issues with the CCD sensors in that model of Canon camera and get it repaired at Canon's expense: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/11/canon-digital-cameras-showing-black.html
