Other than sending it to Nokia, I don't know how to actually FIX the problem. However, if you're ok leaving your phone on all the time, it's possible to turn it on, assuming you're in the same situation I'm in.

I removed the front and back covers, then pulled up the top piece that covers the power button. The button itself had fallen off and was bouncing around inside, it's about 2mm by 1mm rectangular, with a little black switch on a long side. I'm not sure how to correctly reattach it, so I just left it out.

Once you have the emtpy area below where the orange button would go, there are two contacts just on the inside, against the front part of the phone. Simply short those two contacts, with a battery inside, of course, and your phone should come right on. You can then reassemble the covers around it.

Fixed mine the same way, but with a butter knife.

I didn't get the button fixed, but I was able to turn the phone back on with a nail file. I removed the front and back covers, then the top piece that includes the orange power button. There are two small metal square things at the top of the green board. At first I thought I needed to connect the two with something metal, but it felt like one had a little play in it. I guess it's a tiny switch. I think it is the one nearest the center of the phone.

I'm not sure what broke when I dropped the phone, but I think a small piece broke and got lost somehow.

buy a new switch and solder it on...

I currently have this problem and have been advised by Nokia that it is a software fault and that it needs resetting. Sadly the nearest place that can do this is 25 miles away as they closed my local service center 1 month ago!
