Kenwood Chef A901?

I've just purchased a secondhand A901 and unlike my other model the on/off speed control dial has to be pushed in and held in to select speed. Is this correct? Do I have a problem?

Brenda and Alex.

Both your Kenwoods have the same fault. The shaft, on which the control knob rotates, has gradually been pulled from the motor casting by the action of the spring fitted behind the knob and cam assembly. The shaft has knurling on it and is pressed into the aluminium motor housing.

Sooner or later, the shaft may come completely out as the one on my A901 did. I fixed mine back in with "Epoxy resin adhesive" after removing motor from machine.

I have a second hand kenwood chef 901 which you have to do the same thing with I assumed it was a safety feature to stop you changing the speed accidentally. Mine has been used almost daily for the last 18 months with no problems.
