How can I check the windings-motor insulation of a 240v 3phase motor?

I have bought a 240v-400v 3phase motor. The power supply-speed controller (Altivar 31)trips out power supply at consumer unit then shows fault code SCF for motor short circuit. The Altivar 31 manual suggests either faulty cable to motor or motor insulation.I have checked the cable with my multimeter and that is ok.How can I check the motor insulation- windings?

difficult to do with a multimeter.I have a tool called a growler specifically for this job but they are few and far between.sugest you find your local motor winding repairer.they will be equiped for high voltage insulation tests.
