Certain brands of recorders don't like certain brands of disks. I usually use Sony because most machines don't reject those. But if you do a lot of editing, or pausing and starting, that's enough to screw up these kinds of machines. Dvd recorders are far from reliable. Only when a disk is finalized and verified by trying it on another machine do you know you're safe. If good quality dvds don't help, you're better off junking that machine, because disks tend to get expensive after a while.
