How can I fix my Breadman TR520 ?

The other day whilst using my breadmaker we had a power surge. I heard a pop from the machine followed by a slight burning smell and the machine stopped working. My husband took it apart but couldn't see any burnt parts, wires, fuses, etc. I thougt about just buying a new one but my husbands sure it can be fixed. Any ideas as to what else we can check or what the problem could be ? Could it be the actual motor that's damaged ?
