renault megane engine managment light flashes?

hi i have a 1996 renault megane 1.6rt and the engine managment light flashes when it is idleing over but when you rev the car up and it gets to 1500 revs it goes out but as soon as it goes under that it comes on again any suggestions many thanks

Hi Steven, the last one like this I dealt with was an unnoticable missfire that was being detected by the "knock" sensor, replaced the plug's & coils and all was fine
