Where to obtain battery?

Does anybody know where I can buy a back up NiCd battery (3.6v 60maH) for my Casio TK-2700 cash register. I am in the UK. Many thanks.

Hi.
I know the 2700 well. You probably can't buy the original battery any longer due to the age of the machine. if you want one with the plug on it, ready to go, then you will have to buy it from a local dealer. look in the phone book for cash register dealers, then find one who deals in Casio. If you are able to solder, or know someone who can, then it is easy to fit any old Nicad or Nickel metal hydride battery in place of the original. Just go to your local electronics shop and buy a cordless phone battery (3.6V) of either NiCD or NiMH type. The MAh rating isn't important, as long as it is the same or higher than the original. I often use 600, or 1000 mAh batteries. all it means is they will last longer when the power is turned off (months of backup storage). When replacing it, you take out the screws in the top cabinet, and push the little clips under the sides of the bottom cabinet, while sliding the top backwards. Then CAREFULLY lift the top, as there are two cables to be careful of. Now, the important part is to LEAVE THE POWER ON WHILE YOU PULL THE BATTERY PLUG OUT. If the power goes off while batt out, Bye bye programming. Now solder new battery to the wires, taking careful note of + and - polarity. Insulate any joins well with tape or whatever you have. Plug the batt into the board, and find somewhere to mount the new batt inside. i usually hot glue it to the chassis somewhere, or you can wedge it into a crevice, or wherever just to stop it moving around and unplugging itself. Thats it. these are good registers, so it is worthwhile going to the trouble of replacing it. Golden rule for good lifetime of these machines is always use paper in both sides of printer, and replace ink cartridge as soon as it fades (it has a special oil to keep the head in good nick).

Good luck!
