My Compaq Presario Power Button is broken?

I own an older (2001) Compaq Presario. Ive had minimal problems with it over the years, but recently it froze up, so I shut it down, not realizing that the Power (On/OFF) Button had been broken. Now I cant turn it back on. When I press the On button, nothing happens at all. No lights, fans, etc. It feels that the button is broken or something. No tension on it. Any ideas?

This person has a Presario, it's a laptop, and like my presario, it probably doesn't have a reset button. I have a similar problem, my laptop is heading in that direction, somtimes I have to hold down the power button for a while for it to actually start. I'm thinking of oening it up to check the connectivity, but unfortunately I think I just may have to replace the button entirely.

you will need to open the p.c up and leave it plugged in you will need to find the power button wire and unplug it from the mother board and then u will need a plastc handled knife to touch the 2 pins that u took the wire off.
if you dont want to u se a knife to start up your p.c everytime there is another option which is to use the reset button as your power button and swap the wires over which would then leave you with no reset button
or another option is to get another power button from another p.c and replace it!!!
hope it helps
