Help with sony str-de475 cinema surround sound?

Hi I have a sony str-de475 cinema surround sound system and i'm having problems with the sound quality. The center front speaker sounds awfull and the others aren't too great either. I know it's not the speakers because I've just bought some new ones (expensive ones too) I've taken the unit to the shop and when they tried it all was fine? I did notice that when they tried it in the shop the blue digital decoding light came on, I've never managed to get this light on, don't know if it's anything to do with the problem? Please help as I've spent tonnes on this thing and it sounds awfull.

The blue decoding light means they were testing the DTS output, so it seems you're having problems with standard 5.1 output. Take it back and get them to test the non-DTS audio.

PS. The surround sound receiver will have a built in TEST setting. It provides an excellent test of ALL channels, as it is a genuine fully dolby encoded signal.

Scott, I don't know Sony products very well myself.

But for anyone to help, here or in other forums, they'll likely need to know the following...

1) Make/Models of other equipment you are connecting to it.
2) Your country as USA / UK / European equipment connections may differ.
2) How the equipment is connected. (eg. if optical cable used, which inputs used on receiver.
3) In what way is the sound awful? eg. is it: Distorted; Low Volume; Poor Bass/Treble; Echoey sound; other?
4) The settings you are using on the amplifier.

Good luck.
