Could you try uninstalling Desktop prior to reinstalling? Instructions
for uninstalling are posted in the Desktop Help Center at
http://desktop.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=10551
Once you've uninstalled, you can reinstall at
http://desktop.google.com/en/GoogleDesktopSetup.exe
Let me know if any issues remain after reinstalling.
