Philips CCR 2006 showing 'Check CD 4'?

Philips CCR 2006 - When loading the CD magazine, it shows the error 'check CD 4' even when there is no CD. Won't play or load anything..just shows error.

could be one of three things;
these units do not play cdrw discs which damage the laser.

try resetting code.

If laser has had it, you would be cheaper looking for a rconditioned replacement.

I'm having exactly the same problem.
Did either of you find a solution? I am currently on my third CDC3 changer - not very reliable are they?!
