my tomtom won't read the simm card. when I pull it out and reinsert it the screen just shows a card with a red x on it, what do I do?

You probably need to update your Tom Tom,
load the Tom Tom c.d. into your p.c. and install.
Hook up Tom Tom to p.c.via usb lead,and it will pretty much do it for you.

If not try resetting Tom Tom using a cocktail stick into small hole marked reset above sd card on underside of unit, Good Luck!
