water damage to veneered table? (not antique)?

My daughter placed wet washing on a large area of my mahogany veneered (fairly modern) dining table, any ideas how to get rid of the very large white stain thats been left? It hasn't 'blown' the wood, quite flat to the touch, just this awful mark. 20yr old table, but so handy to seat everyone at Christmas.

I had water marks on a table that were caused by a cup and also a glass of water so they wern't quite as big as your mark but I got rid of them with some petroleum jelly (vasaline).I rubbed it into the stain's and left it overnight then polished it off the next day,the stain's had gone.

Give this a try,you might be suprised !!!
