How do I fix my compact flash memory card?

My 512 mb compact flash memory card is messed up. It won't work in my camera (a Canon s500), but it will show the pictures that are on it when I insert it into my computer. I put the same memory card into my dad's camera (another Canon model), and it worked just fine. I've tried reformatting the card, but nothing works. Help!

done
Re-format it within the camera or in Windoze to FAT 16

I have the same thing wrong with my camera flashcard not reading it I put a new card in and it would work for awhile then it would do what you are saying. Oh dont use a tourch to see the pins use a Flashlight, it will not melt the camera..
if you evey find out how to fix this let me know.

Unless you have tried other cards in that camera and they worked, I would guess that the camera may be the problem rather than the card. Get a torch and have a look into the card drive on the camera and try to see if any of the pins are bent. That'd be my first thought.
