How do I remove a chainsaw clutch?

when trying to remove the clutch nut, the whole flywheel is turning. How do I stop the flywheel from turning or lock it so that I can get this nut loose. Any ideas would be very helpfull, thank you. Keith

Remove the spark plug and install a bolt 3-4" long into spark plug hole until bottom out on top of piston. Use a hammer and drive to loosen the clutch.

go with the top answer we use the same trick in the forestry but with our boot laces

I removed the spark plug, moved the piston to the down position, insert some 3/8" rope into the cylinder to keep the piston from going back up all the way (leave enough rope out to be able to remove it when finished), this will lock the piston enough so you can remove the clutch.
