My Indesit wg1130t sometimes blows the trip switch on the main switchboard.
When the machine is switched off, there is still some resistance showing accross the live and neutral terminals on the plug.
When I disconnect the capacitor which is situated under the top cover near the back of the machine,the resistance goes to infinity. Couild this be the problem?

The capacitor is actually a noise filter. It prevents the machine sending voltage surges down the mains which could be whats causing your trip to go. Try replacing the unit.
