thank you the doctor, mine was also leaking as above. took your advice and took out of the filter. £5.44p in 25 coins,button,screw,grommet, and perhaps 2 freezer bags. No wonder it was pushing the waste water up the inlet hose!

sounds like the filter inside the sump hose is blocked(sock or fluff)
