how to replace a timing belt on a 02 1.6 8v astra?

timing belt fitting instructions

if u hav got the timing covers off u need to line up the marks on the crank shaft and cam shaft. there is a grove on both gears and a mark on the cover. the camshaft mark is at 12 oclock and the crank mark is at about 5 oclock, once these line up release the tensioner on the left hand side you will need a small drift to push into the holes.now you can remove the belt. put the new belt on making sure gears do not move and remove dift from tensioner, turn engine over by hand from crank gear bolt and check your marks line up. good luck
