Renault Scenic Tailgate wont stay up?

The tailgate on my 2001 Scenic has lost its support strut strength as a result of which it will not stay up (banged my head a few times!!). How do I adjust it?

Get new ones from www.strutsdirect.co.uk, £12.68 per strut plus VAT and £6.95 delivery. A pair is delivered for about £37.15

I have the same problem and have ben assured that the only remedy is replace them. £45 plus p&p from Twenga.com.
