I went into volume preferences and slid the volume down to 85% and sound started to work. Slid it back up to 100% and it stopped working again. My sound stopped working after I updated it. Sounds like a software drama to me.

i had the same problem with mine, i pressed the reset button on the bottom and it came back on ! i was over the moon thought it was knackered hope this helps
