It sounds likethe 'mode switch' is in need of cleaning.
To get the tape out ;With the power On continuously press the RESET button on the remote for over 15 seconds to set to the 'service mode'.To shift the mode mechanism from the FF/REW position in the unloading direction,press continuously the channel button '-'.
Continue by pressing the Pause/still for the supply reel table to wind the tape.
