how to repair rung of chair chewed up by a dog?

I have two chair rungs that were chewed up by a dog. Please advise me how to repair this damage to my dining room chairs. Chairs are made of oak and the color pecan or in that color catagory. Not white.

u can replace it with a wooden dowel of appx. the same diameter. loosen chair screws, add wood glue into exsisting holes, insert dowel and retighten chairs screws. clamp if need be......
