I concur with the above assesment of Canon's busness practices.
Find a local person who tinkers with these things. In Fresno it is Ken Stroud at K&S Camera. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Canon doesn't want you to repair any camera. They want you to buy another one. They would prefer you to buy a more expensive one. Every time I tried to seek answers for repairing my S45 I always get a page advertising their cameras. So I bought a cheaper Kodak. If it breaks at least it was cheaper.
