how can i fix my myson pump?

the pump seems to be running but i cannot tell if the water is circulating, even after trying to adjust the nut and pulling the shaft back

Is there sufficient water in the primary system? Check the f&e tank in the loft (assuming it is not a sealed system) Ball valve may have stuck. If a sealed system ignore the above. Need more detail of symptoms really.
