My two desktop computers never break the connection on my home but my laptop breaks it constantly. The laptop never breaks a WI connection at Panera, etc.

There may be some local interference such as a microwave or someone using another laptop (possibly a neighbour depending on how close your house is) or using a cordless phone. These devices work on the same frequency (usually 2.4 GHz) and channels can overlap. Channels range from 1 to 11. Try changing to another well away from the one you are currently using.
