i have removed the gear box from my 1.4 ford escort how do i split the gear box to get to the gears

To split the gear box first ul need a 5th gear puller as they are very tight to get of , remove the 5th gear cover top and remove cir/clip from top 5th gear and remove with puller , once u have this of take the rest comes apart not to bad
But y do u have to strip ur box as the cost can still be high to repair still
