how do i srink hardboard before putting on my garage wall i have battened the wall and put rockwool to insulate putting hardboard over rockwool someone suggested to wet boards so it will be tight when dry

Apparently it seems to work as I was told to do the same thing lining a floor for stickdown tiles[cheap flooring money was tight then] I is said to stop it buckling up when fixed so I assume it does shrink. Don't over do the wetting though. Wet one try it then see what happens.
