How can I clean up the corrosion in battery compartment?

My cassette adaptor was jammed I was unable to open it until I realised the battery had corroded in the compartment - any ideas ?

you can't but you can try to scrape the corrosion out with a flat ended screwdriver, remove the battery fixture then buy a new fixture and install it. It works sometimes.
