is windows me suitable for this motherboard gigabyte GA-81865GME-775-RH as i built it and it powers up fine but when i switch my monitor on its is a blank screen and its as if its switched its self off again

According to the Gigabyte support pages for this motherboard, Windows ME is supported. Have you checked your cpu as being a supported item though.
