what is the location of a starting motor for a 1998 12.5 16v ford fiesta in the engine?

Patrick,

The starter motor is not actually in the engine but bolted to the outside of it - here's a picture of one...

The cylinder on top is the solenoid relay (switch) with two big fat cables for the high current that starter motors take.

It should be relatively easy to spot yours in the engine bay.
