gas cooker leaves soot on the pots?

we recently bought a gas cooker, it leaves a lot of soot residue on the pots. What could be the cause?

Incomplete combustion - gas not burning properly - potentially dangerous - needs resolving - risk of poisoning and maybe death.

Best to get cooker serviced.
