i am unable to open the boot on my nissan micra 56?

how do i open the boot when the electrical switch is not working on a nissan micra 56

From the inside take off the tailgate trim. Reach down under the locking mechanism inside the tailgate and underneath the mechanism is a slide switch which releases the boot. Cant remember which way to push it but it should come open quite easily so try all ways.
